CHAPTER 4
TIGER TUSSLE
âSo, you think one of the werecats saved you again?â Daphne asked.
Shaggy rubbed the back of his neck. âYeah, like, I guess so.â
âMister Brooks did say some of the cats came from a circus,â Velma added. âThat must be why the leopards knew how to balance on those balls.â
âIt looks as if we have two mysteries on our hands,â Fred said. âWho are the werecats? And why is one of them so helpful?â
Velma pointed toward the cable cars moving over the park. âI bet we can spot both werecats from up there.â
âGood idea,â Batman said.
âUh-uh, no thanks,â Shaggy said, shaking his head. âLike, Iâm staying on solid ground from now on.â
âReah,â Scooby-Doo said, nodding his head. âWhat he said.â
Batman pulled a small radio from his Utility Belt. âHere,â he said, handing it to Velma. âLet me know if you spot anything.â
âYes, sir,â Velma said before she, Daphne, and Fred took off toward the nearby cable car loading platform.
The three friends climbed aboard one of the open cars and shut the door behind them. Fred reached out and pulled the lever. The car rocked forward as the cable pulled it high above the grounds. They slowly moved between the many suspension towers spaced throughout the park.
Daphne aimed a pair of binoculars at the park below them. âWe should be able to see the werecat from up here,â she said. âIn fact, I have a great view of all the cats.â
âHold the phone,â Fred said. âI just spotted the werecat!â
Velma leaned over the carâs railing, scanning the grounds. âWhere?â she asked. âI donât see anything.â
Fred tapped her shoulder and pointed to one of the approaching towers. âThere!â he said. The werecat climbed up the tall structure to meet them. âAnd weâre heading right for it!â
âJinkies!â Velma cried. She reached out and aimed Daphneâs binoculars at the approaching tower.
Daphne flinched when she spotted the creature. âJeepers!â she said, lowering the binoculars. She glanced around the car. âHow can we stop this thing?â
Fred shrugged. âI donât think we can.â
Velma pressed a button on the radio. âBatman, we found the werecat,â she reported. âActually, it found us!â
